If you’re lucky enough to visit Harbour Island, go check out one of my favorite shops here – The Sugar Mill. That’s where I picked up this gorgeous Hester Bly dress, and you can now shop more of the Hester Bly collection on Matches Fashion.
My dress is part of their Tigers of India limited-edition collection, which draws inspiration from the lives of five trailblazing Indian women, who showed unrivaled bravery and fortitude in their lives in the pursuit of helping others and creating a progressive new future for women.
Moreover, in 2021, Hester Bly established Historymakers, an initiative in partnership with the Global Pathways School (GPS) in rural Chettipalayam in India, operated by Village Community Foundation, which is creating opportunities for over 500 children and their families to overcome systemic poverty and realise their full potential.
Historymakers aims to help and empower women through education, mentorship, and skill-sharing. Core to this initiative, is the Hester Bly Historymaker Scholarship, which provides University funding and mentoring support for a female student who is the first in her family to ever go to university.
The initiative also supports young girls through online speaker seminars, useful “How To” toolkits, and creative problem-solving competitions for students to inspire, help build confidence and skills and help create opportunities.
The Global Pathways School holds a very special place in my heart, as it is one my family helped found and continues to operate. The inspiration behind the design of this dress is incredibly meaningful, and the scholarship they have created for GPS is creating a real impact in the lives of young women. This is definitely a do-good brand to keep on your radar and feel good about supporting.
